We use the term Royalty Paid Images (RPI) whereas most suppliers in this field use the Royalty Free terminology. In reality both terms are the same – the client pays for a licence to use specific images with no further fees in the future. Broadly speaking once you have purchased the requisite licence you can use the images for multiple projects over an unlimited time frame.
There are very few restrictions in place – those that exist are there to protect the International copyright of our library and to prevent obvious misuse. For example, the Licence does not permit the client to sell, rent loan or otherwise transfer our images to a third party. Nor does it permit images to be used as part of a trademark, logo or symbol. However, this leaves clients free to use the images in catalogues, newsletters, fliers, on web sites, in company reports, advertising campaigns, promotional items like mouse mats or calendars (providing they are given away free and not sold for profit) and for PR purposes. Unlike many other libraries we do not ask that A1 Images is acknowledged when photos are used. You can also modify images by cropping/cutting out but remember that this does not change the copyright status of the image.
A Model Release Form is a signed document/agreement through which an individual gives permission to the photographer for the image to be reproduced commercially. For the vast majority of the images we offer we have not sought such permission as our images are of a general/broad nature and do not feature famous or well-known individuals. We do hold Model Release Forms on file for a select number of images in our library – clients will be advised if this applies to any image they are interested in using.
Our standard RPI Licence does not provide for any level of exclusivity. However, because we do not facilitate the download of images via the website we are able to control the distribution of images very tightly indeed. Consequently, we will be able to advise that selected images are available on an exclusive basis and for an extra fee (the amount will depend on the length of the exclusivity) this enhanced licence will be operative.
We undertake not to release client data to any third parties for potential marketing purposes or any other use whatsoever. Any data you provide us will only be used to supply you with information relating to images in our library and to keep you updated in the future.
Yes, because you are effectively licensing a particular image on behalf of your client so you can use it in brochures, websites and other promotional materials you are preparing. However, you will need to purchase an appropriate image Licence for each client – a single Licence does not cover you for multiple client use. You will also need to make individual clients aware of our Terms and Conditions in relation to the protection of our copyright.
Depending on the camera used on the day the pixel size of most images will range from 4048 x 3040 to 4752 x 3168 with the largest size being 5184 x 3456. We can always advise the actual size of any image you are interested in – just contact us.
Once you have selected the image(s) you require just let us know the subject and the appropriate reference number and we can usually e-mail the file(s) over to you within 24 hours. An invoice will then be raised and payment will be due within 30 days. Please note that if you do need an image very urgently it is advisable to telephone us first to confirm that somebody is available in the office to handle the order.
